In 2008, the Belted Galloway Society Foundation funded a study of the nutritional value of rib eye steaks from 3 sources – the first being Belted Galloways that were grass fed, the second being Belted Galloways that were grain finished for the last 90-120 days, and the third being reference USDA values for the same cut of beef. Now one might simply look at the tremendous benefits of Belted Galloway to reference USDA beef, but what is the most profound is the dramatic difference between the grass fed Belted Galloway and the grain finished Belted Galloway.
If one didn’t know better, one would never guess that these are the same kind of animal, never mind the exact same breed!
